Cottonwood Arizona Airport (P52) History

Cottonwood Airport, 80 years ago, was once known as the Clemenceau Airport. An eventful historical 2-day dedication celebration was held on March 19-20, 1932.
 
Celebrating the event were:
 
AVIATRIX: Amelia Earhart, Gladys O'Donnell, Clema Granger, Mrs. Kelly.
 
MOVIE STUNT PILOTS and Stuntmen: Frank Clarke, Roy Wilson (Waco); Wing Walker Evan Unger and Mr. Booth jumped with parachutes.
 
AVIATORS: Col. John Hinchey, James Granger (Swallow), CHarles Townes, Bob Weil (Stearman), Robert Scott (Waco Travelog), E.M. Moore (Swallow), J.G.Shakeford (Gipsy Moth), Ed Pettis (Travel Air), Charles Cowan (Stinson)
 
FLYING RYAN B-5's were Roy Dowering, Jean Johnson, and R.M. Wood
 
MONOCOUPES were flown by: Charles Goldtrap, Robert Fran, J. G. Fuerhelm, and M. Martinez of Jerome
 
STAND OIL BOEING: Mike Doolin
 
Event was sponsored by Verde Valley Airlines, whose officers were Marcus Rawlins, M.L. Wheeler, and William A. Clark, III (crashed with Jack Lynch May 15th, 1932).
